Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/4710The liver resection is the main treatment for the major primary neoplasias of the liver and for selected cases of metastatic tumors. The present research has as objective, analyze in a period of 10 years, the complication and the risk factors associated with the hepatectomies realized at the “Hospital Universitário João de Barros Barreto”. It consists in a retrospective study with the analysis of 32 medical records of patients that underwent hepatectomy in the period between January of 1997 and March of 2006. Of the patients, 19 were women and 13 were men, and the mean of age was 47,7 years, going from 8 to 88 years. The surgery indications were: malignancy (68,8%) and benign (31,2%). The hepatectomies were divided in 9 types, being the unique segmentectomy the more frequent. Blood transfusion was done in 21 (65,6%) patients. The total number of complications was 19 (59,4%), being the more common hemorrhage in the intra-operatorive time and sepsis in the post-operative time. In the statistic analyzes, only the hepatic resection type, the realization of blood transfusion with the number of packets transfused and death, were related with complications with significance (p<0,005).
