The research is qualitative, is based on the method of dialectical historical materialism, the methodology used was: the theoretical-bibliographical review, the documentary and field research carried out through observation during the Supervised Internship period and during the elaboration of the Final Paper, to contribute to the research in the collection of the interlocutors' reports, electronic forms were used for students who are assisted by the student assistance policy of Campus UFRA Tomé-Açu, as well as for the Social Service professional who works in Student Assistance on the aforementioned Campus. As a problem, the study was based on the questions: “What contributions does PNAES make to expanding educational rights for access and permanence in higher education for socially vulnerable students in Tomé-Açu?” “What effects does this program provide for students in social vulnerability on success and/or performance in graduation?” The objective of the research was to analyze the student assistance policy at UFRA - Campus Tomé-Açu and its relevance for access, the permanence and success of higher education students. It was using theoretical references such as: Gomes (2011), Kowalski (2012), Lombardi (2008), Sampaio (1991), Saviani (2005), Maceno (2017) among others who discuss the theme. Sources from FONAPRACE magazine were also used, in national legislation and in the decree of the National Student Assistance Program.
