The research argues that dance, as an expressive, cultural, and pedagogical language, contributes to physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development, making it essential in the school environment from the earliest years. Playfulness, in turn, is approached as a fundamental pedagogical strategy that promotes meaningful learning, stimulates autonomy, and strengthens social bonds, in accordance with the guidelines of the BNCC (National Common Curricular Base). The teacher is portrayed as a mediator of the educational process, responsible for embracing each child’s uniqueness, listening with sensitivity, and planning pedagogical practices that integrate movement, affection, and interaction. The field research was carried out at EMEI Crianças Unidas, a school chosen due to the author’s personal connection to the institution. The data collected show that the use of dance and playful activities supports the children’s holistic development, fostering a more enjoyable, engaging, and humanized learning environment. A comparative analysis between two classes with different pedagogical approaches revealed the positive effects of the presence and the drawbacks of the absence of playful practices on children’s behavior and performance.
