The aim of the present study was to review the literature on existing evidence linking creatine supplementation to glycemic control. To achieve this central objective, the time period from 2008 to 2021 was defined, including in vitro studies, clinical trials in rats or mice and in humans, in addition to systematic reviews that evaluate creatine supplementation to glucose metabolism, in a way that causes greater uptake. of this macronutrient to the cell. In relation to the public studied, the publics of healthy individuals or those with diabetes, sedentary or physically active were included; subjected or not to physical exercise. Among the results found, 11 studies were considered eligible, 1 in vitro, 4 in animals, 5 in humans and a systematic review. Among the studies found, 3 showed a neutral correlation between supplementation, 1 showed a negative correlation and 6 positive correlations. In addition to the acceptability of the hypothesis presented by the systematic review. Finally, it was concluded that creatine supplementation may be an adjunctive therapy option when associated with physical exercise to promote better glycemic control in diabetic patients. However, there are still few studies specifically with the public with diabetes mellitus, also taking into account other variables.
