Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/2705The ornamental fisheries in Xingu River (Altamira, Pará State) is focused on species of the Loricariidae family, and this activity is responsible for the generation of income through the commerce with domestic and international markets. Baryancistrus xanthellus (Silurifomes: Loricariidae) is among the most traded species and, therefore, it is essential to conduct baseline studies on feeding to enable a viable cultivation. Ideally, the diet offered should be attractive to the individual, as a result, flavorings are added to the feed. Thus, knowing the flavoring that stimulates foraging the most and its appropriate concentration is necessary. Hence, the main objective of this study was to investigate the influence of flavoring in feed consumption in juvenile B. xanthellus in captivity. To achieve this, two experiments were conducted: the first to verify the preference of B. xanthellus on four diets (herbs, fish and shrimp) offered during the night and, the second, to verify the influence of fish aroma in low and high concentration chosen according the previous longest average feeding time. The quantification of behavior was performed by Jwatcher program which records the start and end time of each behavior. In the present study, individuals of B. xanthellus investigated equally all diets of different aroma and concentrations, which was an expected result. Several species of fish show investigative behavior based on experiences in the natural environment (nighttime and sometimes turbid environment). In the experiment, the acari is in a new environment and investigate all the container to recognize the surrounding. In relation of feeding, statistical tests showed that B. xanthellus fed all diets. This can be explained from ability of various species to compose a diet that reflects their natural foraging habits. Statistical tests showed that B. xanthellus has fed all diets equally. Therefore, it is speculated that the acari attempted to find by smell and subsequently by taste a ration that would supply its nutritional needs.Acesso AbertoPeixe ornamental – ParáAquiculturaPreferência alimentarBaryancistrus xanthellus (Silurifomes: Loricariidae)CNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::OCEANOGRAFIA::OCEANOGRAFIA QUIMICAInfluência de aromatizante no consumo de ração em juvenis de Baryancistrus xanthellus (Siluriformes: Loricariidae)Trabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
