Disponível em: https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8599 Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8599The purpose of this work is to analyze indigenous representations in the media spaces of TV shows from the late 1980s and 1990s and how broadcast TV, as a space of power, was an important tool for perpetuating stereotypes related to indigenous people today in the Brazilian context. The YouTube platform will be used as a source, in order to access scenes from shows such as Casseta & Planeta, Os Trapalhões and Xou da Xuxa, seeking to emphasize how Brazilian TV at the end of the 20th century was marked by stereotypes, a lack of diversity and a stigmatized view of indigenous peoples. The work is based on a qualitative-interpretative method. Broadcast TV, as a space of power, has contributed to the consolidation of a racist and stigmatized imaginary in relation to indigenous peoples.
