This study conducts a comparative technical-economic analysis between electric and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) water heating systems, applied to a 52-unit multifamily residential building in Belém, Pará, Brazil. A quantitative approach was adopted, focusing on operational cost (OPEX) and excluding installation and maintenance expenses. Energy consumption was estimated through thermal balance calculations based on standardized usage parameters, adopting an efficiency of 98% for the electric system and 86% for LPG. Costs were calculated based on current energy prices in the state of Pará, with cumulative projections over 5, 10, 20, and 30-year horizons using historical price adjustment rates, along with the Levelized Cost of Heat (LCOH) and a climate sensitivity analysis. In the base year, the electric system yielded an annual cost of R$ 2,606.11 per apartment, while bulk LPG totaled R$ 1,418.22, representing a 45.6% saving. Over a 30-year projection, bulk LPG expands its advantage to 54.8%. The sensitivity analysis showed that the percentage difference between systems and the LCOH remain constant across all climate scenarios. It is concluded that bulk LPG represents the most advantageous alternative from an operational cost perspective, with future work recommended to incorporate CAPEX and evaluate hybrid systems integrating solar thermal energy.Acesso AbertoAquecimento de água predialGLPChuveiro elétricoEficiência energéticaCusto operacionalDomestic hot waterLPGElectric showerEnergy efficiencyOperational costCNPQ::ENGENHARIAS::ENGENHARIA CIVILAnálise econômica de sistemas prediais de aquecimento de águaTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Artigo
