The manioc is present in the family farming that is focused on biodiversity, family labor appreciation, young people and women inclusion, food production for food security and rural nutrition. Its plantation, in much of the country, is still based on the shifting cultivation model which consists of slash and burn vegetation with areas reuse. Aiming to know the use of manioc and its products in the family farming of Santana Community (Prainha), on the Acutiperera Road, Portel City, State of Pará, Brazil, botanical and ethnobotanical data surveys were done in the period of March 11 to October 31, 2015 by applying semi structured questionnaires, using the methodological complementarity between qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results indicates ten manioc varieties (Pai Lourenço Grande, Peixe-Boi, Zulhuda/Pretinha, Amarelão, Bonitinha, Amarelinha, Taracu, Achada, Cururu e Macaxeira) cultivated by farmers, which only the introduction of Cururu variety is known. The uses are geared for the foodstuffs production, highlighting the beju to 100% of self-consumption; the other products in addition to their own use were intended for sale, highlighting the flour with 100%, following by tapioca in branch and tucupi, 40% each; the tapioca flour and tacacá, 30% each. By using these products it became evident the importance of varieties as subsistence crops to the family farming communities.
