To this end, we highlight certain legal and policy developments in special education and the consolidation of the rights of people with disabilities. We present some conceptual discussions on ASD, curriculum, curricular flexibility, and inclusive special education. First, we provide a brief history of ASD; next, we present a concise discussion of the curriculum from a critical theory perspective, drawing on ideas from Sacristán (2019); Pacheco (1996), Roldão (2003), and others, and we highlight the concept of curricular flexibility based on authors such as Pletsch and Glat. Subsequently, we indicated some possibilities for curricular flexibility through curriculum mediation, adaptation of materials and methodological strategies, as well as through assistive technologies and alternative communication. Research indicates that despite various advances and the realization of the right to education, school inclusion goes beyond enrollment; it requires cultural and pedagogical transformations in educational institutions and more effective public policies. In this context, the curriculum plays a central role, and it is essential to discuss ways to make it more flexible to ensure accessible and meaningful education for students with ASD.Acesso AbertoEducação inclusivaTranstorno do Espectro AutistaCurrículoFlexibilização curricularInclusive educationAutism Spectrum DisorderCurriculumCurriculum flexibilityCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::EDUCACAOA inclusão de alunos com Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA): possibilidades de flexibilização curricularTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Artigo
