Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/63This work presents an analysis about the performance of the Library "DPC Kátia do Socorro Sousa Lima Freitas" of the Institute of Security Education of Pará as information unit and services in the military training environment. This analysis shows some improvements implemented by the Institute's management and proposes a series of other improvements to enable the Library to reach its goal in terms of the reception and transmission of knowledge. The study is based on researches in books and websites on the resilience of the concept of public library in the view of several authors over time and also in legislations that deal with the organ and the system in which it is inserted. It talks about the legislations of the state military training environment. Describes the structure, services and functions of a public library in order to understand the challenges experienced by the Librarianship professional in the library of the Institute and also the difficulty faced by the users in searching for bibliographic references for their scientific work.
