The child with normal hearing can acquire and develop the speech. However, a child with hearing disorder gets unable to communicate and can become an introvert and isolated, due to the fact of not understand and not be understood. Besides, it is known that a great number of cases of hearing loss is due to otitis media and this is a frequently disease in patients with adenotonsillar hypertrophy. In this context, it is very important to evaluate possible hearing changes in patients that will have tonsillectomy surgery through audiological and audiometric evaluation in the pre and postoperative of this kind of surgery, this one becomes the main objective of this work. It has been applied a protocol developed for this research in 68 patients between 4 and 12 years from 2007 October to 2008 February, that have done adenoidectomy and/or tosillectomy in the Bettina Ferro de Souza university hospital in University Federal of Pará, it was verified tah 8,8 % (n=6) presented Tonal threshold audiometry with some hearing loss degree in the pre-operative exam, then, this number has fallen to 0% in the post-operative; In the impedance audiometry 22% (n=15) had alteration in the pre-operative exam while this number has gone to 7.6 (n=5) in the post-operative; concerning the estapediano reflex 27,9% (n=19) had alteration in the reflex before the surgery and after the surgery, this number has decreased to 13,8% (n=9). In this context, it is evident the relation between the adenotonsillar hypertrophy and the middle ear, which could lead to hearing losses.
