Therefore, nutritional status is a predictor of complications of hepatic disease. The Royal Free Hospital Global Assessment (RFHGA) it's an evaluation method that has shown efficiency in viral hepatitis patients. Objectives: Evaluate the nutritional status of patients diagnosed with hepatitis C by the method RFHGA. Methods: A Crosssectional, descriptive and analytical study occurred in the hospital Fundacação Santa Casa de Misercórdia do Pará (FSCMPA) from September to November of 2017. The sample was composed of 34 patients with hepatitis C, with or without cirrhosis, with ages between 25 and 74, both sexes that accepted to sign the Term of Free and Clarified Contentment (TCLE). This study was realized after the approval of the Ethical Committee in Research of the hospital FSCMPA (number 2.084.502). The method RFHGA uses the combination of Subjective Assessment (clinical and physical parameters), Anthropometric data (Bodymass Index BMI, triceps skinfold TSF, arm circumference AMC and arm muscle circumference MUAMC) and food intake (24hour Dietary Recall). With these data, an algorithm is constructed to ranks the patients in: Wellnourished, moderate caloricprotein depletion (CPD) or at nutritional risk (NR) and severe CPD. Results: Of the total, 79.41% (n = 27, p = 0.0011) presented good subcutaneous reserve, 50% (n = 17, p = 0.0405) weight loss and 70.6% (n = 24; = 0.0001) insufficient food consumption. Regarding the analysis of the algorithm, 85.3% (n = 29; p = 0.0001) of the patients were classified as moderate CPD or at nutritional risk. Conclusion: It can be concluded even though having a good level of subcutaneous reserve, the patients still were diagnosed in Nutritional Risk. This fact occurred due to the prevalence of insufficient the food intake, which contributed to weight loss, as observed. Furthermore, RFHGA can be used as an early diagnosis method for the identification of NR, assisting in nutritional interventions in a order to prevent or reduce complications of the disease.Acesso AbertoEstado nutricionalAvaliação nutricionalHepatite CNutritional statusNutritional assessmentHepatitis CCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::NUTRICAOAvaliação do estado nutricional de pacientes diagnosticados com hepatite C: aplicação do método de avaliação global do Royal Free Hospital (RFH-GA)Trabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
