Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/2679The use of remote sensing tools for the evaluation of soil use and occupation dynamics allows the understanding the landscape alterations and the monitoring of impact from anthropic actions over zones of rich plant biodiversity, with repercussion in the designing of public policies for environmental preservation. With that in mind, this work aimed to apply geoprocessing tools to analyze the soil use and occupation in 1984, 1999 and 2018 for the Mosqueiro and Cotijuba islands, in order to compare the landscape evolution in the islands. The study utilized the Landsat satellite images, from the orbit/point 223/061, with spatial resolution of 30 m, in the red, near infrared and medium infrared wavelength bands. Imaging processing resulted in classification and determination of occupied area by classes: Hydrography, Exposed Soil, Dense Vegetation, Sparse Vegetation, Agricultural and Livestock Farming, and Urban Zone. There was a decrease in exposed soil and farming areas in both islands for the analyzed years. The total vegetation in Mosqueiro and Cotijuba increased 9.54% and 8.33%, respectively. The urban zone class presented a sharp increase in both islands.
