However, in many contexts, especially in rural areas, this partnership faces specific challenges that deserve careful analysis. In this regard, the present article presents research conducted at EMEF Sagrado Coração de Jesus, located in the Rio Cotijuba community, a rural area of the municipality of Igarapé-Miri (PA), with the aim of analyzing family participation in students’ school activities. This qualitative case study was based on semi-structured interviews with the school’s pedagogical coordinator, who also works as a teacher. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results reveal that active family involvement positively influences students’ academic performance. On the other hand, the lack of such partnership can have negative impacts, leading to harmful consequences such as disinterest in school activities, increased dropout rates, and behavioral difficulties.
