Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8899Our objective is to understand the organization and traditional knowledge of artisanal crab (caranguejo-uçá) fishing in the community of Caratateua, in Bragança. The study sought to highlight the transmission of this knowledge, the organization of crab harvesting, and how these cultural and identity-based productive practices shape and ensure the social and economic reproduction of artisanal fishers. The research is grounded in theoretical frameworks on traditional peoples, traditional knowledge, and artisanal fishing, according to Diegues (2005), Furtado (1990), Maneschy (2005), and Oliveira (2013), in dialogue with studies that address the relationship between extractive communities and knowledge about natural cycles. Methodologically, the research adopted a qualitative approach, as highlighted by Haguette (2003), based on bibliographic review, field research, and a semi-structured interview conducted with a crab catcher from the Caratateua community.
