Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8300This paper analyzes the impacts of the project Itinerant Exhibition University and Social Inclusion: the student profile for university admission and intervention actions, of the Faculty of Mathematics of the Castanhal campus of the Federal University of Pará, on the decision of high school and preparatory school students to continue their studies at a higher level, with brief considerations on the representations of students about Mathematics. It is based on the principle that the transition from high school to higher education for students in public schools is marked by several adversities. In this sense, it is important to provide professional guidance in the educational path based on the offer of activities that put the public from basic schools in interaction with the university. The fieldwork was subdivided into two moments: the implementation of the intervention proposal and the collection of data through a descriptive qualitative approach that used the questionnaire as a collection instrument using the Google Forms platform to better understand the challenges faced by high school students who wish to enter university. The results, analyzed by statistical sampling, highlighted the importance of working on the emotional aspect of students who expressed, among other emotions, fear regarding access to Higher Education, with emphasis on social representations about Mathematics. In addition, the lack of preparation in seminars, calculations and reading during basic education puts them at risk of dropping out of university courses. Finally, the results emphasize the policy difficulties faced by school students when entering Higher Education, highlighting the need for more effective support for these students.
