Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/5525OBJECTIVE: To understand the different processes that occur in the maternal microbiota during pregnancy and correlate them with the formation of the fetal microbiota and the implications for the health of the fetus after birth. METHODOLOGY: The present study aimed to develop a literature review by means of a survey of articles on the proposed theme in publications between 2011 and 2021. The search took place during the months of November 2020 to March 2021, in the databases: The Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), PUBMED and BIREME, all of them indexed in the portal Virtual Health Library (VHL). DISCUSSION: The formation of the microbiota in the infant period will be vital in building a healthy immune system allows us to infer that resistance to disease will also be conditioned to an early process of microbiota colonization.
