Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10285This research discusses the use of comic books as a pedagogical resource for developing reading and writing skills in children in the early years of elementary school with learning difficulties. The topic emerged during a mandatory teaching internship in a public school in Belém, where barriers in literacy were observed, such as difficulties in decoding, limited mastery of the written code, and low motivation when dealing with certain textual genres. Comic books stood out for combining verbal and non-verbal language in a playful and accessible way, fostering comprehension and student engagement. This bibliographic research was based on authors such as Marcuschi, Bakhtin, and Vygotsky, in addition to dissertations published between 2014 and 2024 that investigated the relationship between comics and literacy. The results indicate that comic books contribute to vocabulary expansion, diversification of reading strategies, and greater student motivation, including among those with intellectual disabilities. It is concluded that comic books are an effective tool to enhance literacy, as they integrate text and image into a multimodal language that values playfulness and promotes more meaningful and inclusive learning.
