METHODS: The study was exploratory document type, a quantitative approach of retrospective type, held at the Specialized Police Service to the Elderly (deai). 734 complaints were consulted answering chips social sector deai the record dated back to January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014. For data collection were selected 556 chips, since met the inclusion criteria: Seniors considered according to the old status of both sexes, living in Bethlehem and its metropolitan area that suffered some kind of violence that were reported in specialized body. The analysis was performed from descriptive statistics, with absolute and percentage rate calculation, data were presented according to the variables tables. RESULTS: Of the 556 selected records were checked on violence in the elderly, which indicated most victims were female (64.4%) were aged between 66-70 years (19.4%), widowed ( 35.4%) had child (86.7%), those with between 2-3 children (20.0%) received family assistance (53.2%), retired (73.7%), had autonomy and independence (61.7%), had no cognitive dependence (44.6%), the victims who lived in the city of Belém-PA (98.0%), lived in the neighborhood of Quarry (7.2%) and the termination of motif with higher occurrence was family conflict (46.0%). CONCLUSION: The analyzed data allowed a broad knowledge within the limits of what was proposed to be achieved, these being less observed by the media seeking, in general, only the cases that really suffered criminal case and if extremas. Ressalta-consequences that combating the phenomenon is not exclusive function of the organs of repression to crimes, but also the many balls that must be interconnected in the development of studies and research, training, training and continuing education of professionals involved in the care idoso.
