These formulations are designed to protect against pathological and degradation agents, provide resistance to weathering conditions, and meet market demands without compromising economic feasibility. The study of the components and characteristics of paint raw materials, along with the pathologies resulting from moisture action and the factors that influence the final quality of the paint, contributes to understanding paint formulations with improved performance and applicability. Considering that, in Brazil, few products are developed with selective characteristics for specific regions, this study investigated the performance of paint formulations by varying mineral fillers (Kaolin, Precipitated Calcium Carbonate, and Dolomite) to meet the needs of the Northern Region. For this purpose, the methodologies of Lucas (2024), Castro (2009), and Hare (1974) were employed to evaluate the properties and performance of a standard matte paint formulated with 39% mineral fillers and 7% titanium dioxide (TiO₂). The analyses included scanning electron microscopy for morphological characterization; viscosity, hydrogen potential (pH), and specific weight tests for physicochemical properties; and water absorption by capillarity and staining tests to assess the effects of moisture. The results of the physicochemical analyses showed that the paints exhibit alkaline behavior, and half of the formulations met the established viscosity standard (100 to 120 KU). Only the formulation with 39% Kaolin presented a specific weight below the reference value. In the water absorption test, the binary sample containing 19.5% PCC and 19.5% Dolomite showed the lowest capillary water absorption. Other ternary formulations also exhibited absorption values close to that of the reference paint, and none of the samples, including the reference ones, showed visible staining. Among the formulations, the binary sample with 19% Kaolin and 19% Dolomite stood out with the lowest absorption, being recommended for indoor and outdoor architectural environments. The ternary samples with 26% PCC and with 13% Kaolin, 13% PCC, and 13% Dolomite are suitable for various applications in indoor areas with low humidity.
