Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8654This work aims to analyze the political and educational conditions of the First Republic in Pará, which enabled the production and publication of Juvenal Tavares's works, and thus understand how his ideologies and literary contributions impacted the educational formation of the period. The work adopts a qualitative, bibliographical, and documentary approach, with a focus on historical analysis. Based on the context analyzed, it can be seen that the abolitionist period and the effervescence of revolts during the First Republic influenced Juvenal Tavares's writings, which reflect aspects such as positivism, regionalism, cultural appreciation, and the poetic and journalistic aesthetics of the writer. In this sense, in the selection of works: Ancient and Modern Verses, Republican Musa, Serões da Mãe Preta, and Civic Education, we have demonstrated how Tavares incorporated cultural, historical, and social elements of the Amazon into his works, thus promoting the recovery and appreciation of the Amazonian regional identity and encouraging reflection on political and social issues, especially among young people and students in the state of Pará during the Regency period. In conclusion, we found that the presence of these works in the Pará state school curriculum contributes to the cultural and social development of students. The analysis of these works is all the more relevant because Juvenal Tavares was a thinker who produced texts focused on the appreciation of Amazonian culture and identity, with a focus on the formation of the region's generations.
