It specifically sought, 1) to investigate the daily life of the Sagrada Família community in São Miguel do Guamá/PA, aspects of the mathematical knowledge used in the practice of cassava cultivation; 2) relate natural or non-formal mathematical knowledge to the knowledge taught by the school. The research subjects are farmers who have incomplete elementary education, living in the Sagrada Família community. Seeking to demonstrate this relationship between informal (empirical) and formal (erudite) mathematical knowledge, the research followed a qualitative approach, approaching the Ethnomathematical knowledge of Ubiratan D'Ambrosio (1987) (2011). In the course of the work, calculations were developed that demonstrate, on a theoretical basis, the practice that farmers use on a daily basis, that many of these are formally produced by farmers, but who are often unaware of what it is about.
