Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8314This research aims to demonstrate how combining students' prior knowledge of geometry with manipulable materials and digital resources can enhance the understanding of monomials and polynomials. Conducted at the Professor Marcos Nunes State School in Santa Maria do Pará, the research began in 2022 with one student during the pandemic and was adapted for a class in 2024. It was observed that students exposed to math games between 2022 and 2023 showed greater receptivity and performance with playful approaches. Despite gaps in learning, simplifying the language and introducing games and digital activities increased students' interest in mathematics. Two 8th-grade classes participated in the research, providing both quantitative and qualitative data. Teaching difficulties were highlighted, with students acknowledging the importance of diverse methods, although these are not always used by teachers.
