Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1519The Alto Paraguai Group, located in Mato Grosso State, consists of siliciclastic rocks deposited in Paraguay belt and the Southwest region of the Amazon Craton at the end of the Brazilian/Pan-African Cycle, during the Ediacan-Cambrian transition (~ 541 My). Intense diagenetic processes significantly changed the framework of the deposited rocks in shelf environment, which is recorded at the Império quarry, Glória d'Oeste region, upper portion of the Raizama Formation and lower portion of the Sepotuba Formation. This paper aims the petrography of rocks from the outcrop at the Império quarry, which according to previous papers, these rocks were interpreted as facies association 1 (AF1) - Shoreface influenced by waves and storms; AF2 - Distal braided river; and AF3 - Tidal plain. Petrographic analysis revealed dolomitization followed by dissolution, characterized by the existence of megapores, which is directly associated to the generation of karst features, observed near the contact between AF1 and AF2. The petrographic study of siliciclastic rocks from Raizama and Sepotuba formations identified the sequence of the main diagenetic events: 1) mechanical compression 2) silica cementation 3) dolomitization 4) dissolution 5) Precipitation of authigenic carbonate crystals inside the caves.
