Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9872This article aims to analyze sex education in the school environment and its relationship with teenage pregnancy, understanding the role of schools and education professionals in promoting knowledge, prevention, and care for adolescents, considering the social, cultural, and educational factors present in Brazilian society. This is a bibliographic research developed through the analysis of scientific articles, official documents, and educational legislation, such as the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education (LDB) and the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), addressing issues related to sexuality, diversity, prevention, and the integral development of students. It was observed that the absence or limitation of discussions about sex education in schools contributes to the persistence of misinformation, prejudice, and risky behaviors among adolescents, reflecting in rates of teenage pregnancy and in social, emotional, and economic impacts. Furthermore, it was found that the school plays a fundamental role in promoting respect, citizenship, and students’ health. It is concluded that sex education in schools is essential for the critical and integral development of adolescents, contributing to the prevention of teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and social inequalities.
