This research was guided by the qualitative approach and is also characterized as a case study. The study was conducted with 12 teachers from the public schools of 8 (eight) public schools in the municipality of Breves, Marajó archipelago, in the state of Pará. We adopted as a data collection instrument, a semi-structured questionnaire. The questionnaire contained questions related to the work environment and appropriate conditions for the development of their activities; how often the provider seeks medical attention and for what reasons; teachers' self-assessment of how their profession contributes to their health impairment and in what respects; about the existence of any project within the educational institution of which it is part, that offers improvement in its health and quality of life and finally, if the educators believe in possible solutions to the problem of inadequate working conditions. The data obtained through the questionnaires were analyzed through interpretative analysis. It was evidenced that all the interviewed professionals presented physical and psychological problems and reported many difficulties in the teaching activity, as well as the absence of projects and initiatives to improve the teacher's health and well-being.
