Some of these forcings, such as precipitation and wind regime, are controlled by the climatic seasonality typical of the region, which directly influences the natural characteristics of the environments, such as the sedimentary balance, causing erosion and deposition, for example. These include the fluvial-estuarine island of Cotijuba, characterized by its fluvial beaches, bathed by the estuary of the Pará River, which move local tourism. Like the other environments of the coastal zone, the island of Cotijuba is subject to morphological variations associated with the climatic seasonality of the region. Thus, the objective of this work was to investigate the coastal morphological alterations in the island of Cotijuba at different temporal scales and their relationship with seasonality. The polygon methodology was used from satellite images to identify the long-term coastal variations. In order to verify the morphological variations of the beaches, in a short period, the methodology of topographic profiles was used. The study revealed that the coastline has a strong relationship with long and short period climatic conditions. The island's coastline presents different environmental responses when submitted to ENSO events over a long period, showing a trend of advancement during the El Niño phenomenon, with a maximum value of 28308.89 m² and a minimum of 1060.30 m², and retreat during La Niña, with a maximum value of -9657,42 m² and a minimum of -1828,15m². In a short period, the beaches that make up the coastline show an erosive tendency during the rainy and depositional period in the dry season, being in accordance with the other beaches of the region that present the same cyclical tendency. Although the influence of seasonality is evident in coastal variations, it is not the only one responsible for the changes. There is also the influence of the physiographic characteristic of the beaches, such as morphology, the presence of perennial and temporary channels, the presence of rocky outcrops, among others. The association of these factors governs the cyclical coastal dynamics of the island of Cotijuba.
