Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9007This article analyzes the theme of miscegenation in the Amazon through the eyes of the riverside character Miguel dos Santos Prazeres, in the work "How to Become a guerrilla Fighter" by Benedicto Monteiro. This character is based on Relevance Theory by Sperber and Wilson (2005) and authors such as Monteiro (1995), Resstel (2015), Souza (2001), Bueno (2012), Silva (2014), among others. The objective is to verify the connection of meanings between the narrative and the reader's interpretation of the facts in order to understand how these elements of semiotics contribute to a reflection on miscegenation. The results of the research show that the narrator-character's speech has its own meaning, independent of the fact described, which demonstrates the relevance of what is said, highlighting the character's perspicacity and the symbolism of the language. The study seeks to collaborate with readers and the general community interested in appreciating the literary aspect of the interpretation of narratives about the formation of the Amazonian population.
