Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10333The text presents an account of experiences developed during a non-mandatory internship at the Departamento de Trânsito do Estado do Pará (DETRAN/PA), located in the city of Belém, within the scope of non-formal education. Considering the World Health Organization’s (WHO, 2023) estimate that traffic accidents worldwide surpass the number of victims in many armed conflicts, and that traffic violence has rendered approximately 2.5 million people disabled in recent years, according to the Confederação Nacional do Transporte (CNT), this study is justified by the need to highlight the importance of traffic education. It emphasizes the dissemination of information and guidance for road safety—whether as pedestrians, passengers, or drivers. The objectives of this report are to understand the challenges of urban mobility and the relevance of traffic education from early childhood. The theoretical framework draws on authors such as Libâneo (2001), Padilha (2007), Severo (2018), Barbosa (2028), as well as on the legal framework that supports the national guidelines on the topic. The methodological approach is qualitative, as the research was conducted in the same environment where the educational project took place within DETRAN/PA. Data collection involved bibliographic, documentary, and empirical research. The didactic-pedagogical strategies included workshops, games, discussion circles, and experiential activities with children and adolescents, addressing concepts of traffic safety and citizenship. The results highlight the importance of providing access to knowledge and guidance that complement formal school learning from early childhood education, reinforcing citizenship and quality of life in everyday mobility within society.
