The experiment happened in the 1first year of an elementary State Public School. It emphasizes the literacy process in a playful way with the support of handmade teaching resources.It is understood that learning by playing is a way to stimulate the child to want to make new discoveries and it also promotes quality learning for the students. Therefore, we enable the following problem: Is it possible to have meaningful learning through play and games? This question provided the basis for the construction of the objective of this research, which is to analyze the development process of students based on playfulness activities. We recognize the importance of the discussion on the researched theme, so we decided to explain our experiences in this article. In order to promote this study, a qualitative field research was carried out, based on bibliographical works and books by renowned theorists on the subject, such as Freire (1996), Soares (2005) and Vygotsky (1998), who emphasize the theme developed. The results showed that the children approved the method of learning by playing.
