Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/5033The ocular ecography is a noninvasive method that is inexpensive and suitable for any study of anatomic changes in eyes with opacity of the cornea. This exam is necessary to provide criteria for surgical indication, because determine changes that may compromise the visual outcome after transplant patients. Thus, it was aimed to know the main findings of ultrasound in patients with corneal opacity, seen at University Hospital Bettina Ferro de Souza, Belém / Pará, in the period January to December of 2008. This is a descriptive, observational, retrospective and transverse study of the review of 50 hospital records. The research results presents, the prevailing of elderly headed for keratoplasty, being the leucoma after trauma responsible for majority (30%) opacity cases. Ecography changes were detected in exam medical of 39 patients, being posterior vitreous detachment the most prevalent, representing 74,9% of changes founded in vitreous cavity, but other findings were relevant for research as cataract, retinal detachment, increased excavation of optic nerve for the method and alterations in macular area.
