Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9960This paper seeks to understand how the Basic Protection Services and the social assistance cash transfer programs are being implemented for the families of the Belo Horizonte riverside community, in the municipality of Anajás/PA. This is a municipality in the Marajoara Archipelago where most of the population lives in rural areas. Therefore, the Social Assistance policy should assume an important role in the effectiveness of basic social protection services as a strategy to reduce social inequality. In view of this, the research aimed to understand whether there is access to Basic Social Protection services for families in the community of the aforementioned locality. We sought to analyze the profile of the families interviewed, in order to understand the impacts of the cash transfer programs and the main services that these families have access to, when they have them. The research is exploratory and qualitative in nature. We used a script to conduct the interviews, which were semi-structured. The work is divided into three chapters. In these chapters we contextualize some historical aspects of Social Assistance in Brazil, in addition to highlighting it as a public and social policy. We approached the conceptual question about territory, riverside communities, and historically contextualized the Amazon and the research location. We also sought to highlight the main information brought up by the field research and, with this, relate it to the legal aspects attributed to the Social Assistance Policy, leading to some reflections on each issue raised by the interviewees. Throughout the research, it was possible to see how precarious the services that reach the community are being offered. A service that should be considered as preventive is being carried out only on an emergency basis when requested by other policies in joint actions. One of the causes that can be related to this issue is the lack of an intervening attitude on the part of the government, which is the main responsible for guaranteeing that the policies reach the entire population that demands them. In summary, there is little research related to the theme produced in the municipality. In spite of the universal nature of the assistance policy, what was found is that there is no discussion of territoriality in the sense of taking into account the real needs of the families that live there.
