Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8581The study deals with the midwife as a “Place of Memory” in the rural community of Colônia Nova in the municipality of Abaetetuba-PA. Its main objective is to produce historical narratives as a strategy for initiating historical research and teaching history in the early years of elementary school, with proximises to the concept of “places of memory” by the French historian Pierre Nora. It is a study of a historical educational nature and uses a qualitative approach, supported by documentary research based on semi-structured interviews with women from the Colônia Nova community. In addition to Nora (1993), we dialogued with Adiche (2009), Cambi (1999), Le Goff (2013), Silva and Silva (2009). The study covers the recent historical and social context of this community, addressing the practices and memories associated with the midwife, here translated as the object of our epistemological curiosity for the fields of history and education. The results indicate that the craft of midwifery, although no longer practiced in the community, remains a link between the past and the present.
