The research aims to analyze how processes of organization, access, dissemination, and use of webtoons are configured within digital platforms, focusing on the legal platform Comikey and considering the tensions between authorized access and the circulation of content through unauthorized means. This is a qualitative, exploratory-descriptive study, developed through a bibliographic review of works from Information Science, Library and Information Science, and related fields, combined with an analysis of the Comikey platform using categorical content analysis. Initially, the study contextualizes the emergence and consolidation of webtoons as a digital comics format designed for consumption on mobile devices, highlighting their growing popularity in Brazil and the challenges related to the legal availability of such content. Subsequently, digital information mediation is discussed based on theoretical contributions from the field, examining the platform’s role as a private institutional mediator that regulates informational flow through technical and market-driven criteria. The findings indicate that, although Comikey promotes the organization and visibility of webtoons, full access to content remains conditional, thus constituting a field of interest for Information Science, particularly with regard to access and information mediation in digital platforms.
