Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9381The growing number of cases of cancer deaths has become a concern from a global to municipal scale, for being among the four causes of death before the age of 70 in most parts of the country. Based on this assumption, the present work investigated whether there is an increase in the number of cases of cancer deaths at the municipal level, using the municipality of Cametá, located in the state of Pará, as the locus of study. The work aims to analyze and compare statistical data with theoretical methodologies in the area of Health Geography, with the purpose of understanding the possible causes of the increase in deaths from neoplasms, as well as explaining an overview of health conditions and structure. Taking advantage of some authors who work with the object of study, among them ALVES, COELHO and MAGALHÃES (2014), ALVES and MAGALHÃES (2017), GUIMARÃES (2015), INCA (2019), INCA (2006), JAYME (2013), JUNQUEIRA (2009). Given the quantitative numbers from the years 2014 to 2022, cases of deaths due to malignant neoplasms in Cametá showed significant growth from the year 2017, and heterogeneous characteristics between typology and incidence by gender, in addition, it was identified by the Municipal Plan of Saúde de Cametá-Pa that in the years 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016, neoplasms were one of the three main causes of death in the municipality.
