They may feel out of place and face difficulties adapting to differences in lifestyle, values and cultural practices. The present work aimed to investigate the problems in relation to the daily lives of high school students who live in a rural area, in the Vila de Guajará de Nazaré when pursuing their studies in schools located in the city of Cametá. In the methodology, a qualitative approach was developed, using bibliographical research and case studies, with data collection and application of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews to obtain results. The results indicate that the conditions experienced daily by these students in terms of the quality of transport and the access highway to the urban environment is very complicated. Therefore, it appears that school transport represents the only viable means for rural students to get to school, and it is essential that it is provided with high quality, in accordance with all standards established by law. Issues such as accessibility, the distance between home and the embarkation/disembarkation point, long journeys to school and road conditions have a significant negative impact on students' academic performance.
