Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/7307The present study is an integral part of the Mineralogical and Petrological Research Project developed within the PET-Geology-UFPA Group in partnership with the Amazon Sedimentary Basin Analysis Group (GSED) and essentially presents results of a bibliographic and analytical survey of sandstones that outcrop in the Sete Cidades Park in the state of Piauí within the Parnaíba Basin. The analytical data were obtained through analytical data and cattodoluminescence in a sample of sandstones from the Cabeças petrográfica Formation in the Sete Cidades National Park (PI) belonging to the FAGEUFPA collection. There were, the mineralogy and textures of these sandstones, in order contestable about the diagenetic processes that gave rise to these rocks. From the origins of the petrographic rock and the cadence of all the constituents, it was possible to determine the provenance of the framework, as well as the origin of the cement, the types of pores and the contact relationships between the types of grains. Macroscopically, as removal of finely-grained sandstones, and predominant composition of white quartz. while microscopic monoscopic feldspathic laminae present in their framework: 1) predominant – quartz (96%) of form, in addition to rock fragments (2%) and feldspathic (2%) 2) diagenetic constituents – oxide-hydroxide cement iron and silica overgrowth. There is also a small amount of clay infiltrated around the quartz grains. Regarding the diagenetic sequence of this sandstone, it was possible to observe the eodiagenetic processes, considering the formation of clay cuticles, in addition to the mesodiagenetic processes, with mechanical (contorted micas and pseudomatrix) and chemical (concaveconvex contacts) compaction. The formation of iron oxide-hydroxide cement may be related to telodiagenetic processes.
