The study evaluates the tension between opportunity and dependency, arguing that Chinese capital fundamentally acts as a reinforcement factor for the contradictions of Brazilian dependent capitalism. This does not stem from a coercive nature of the investments, but rather from the articulation of Chinese capital with the agro-export and neo-extractivist model conceived as Brazil's policy for the Amazon.
