This topic of great importance in contemporaneity, because it is a subject that discuss the relations of oral health, furthermore it is a growing and an efficient method in restorative dentistry. Articles written in English and in Portuguese, books about the subject matter were used. Methodologically, the study was developed using a bibliographic survey of the more recent articles, as well as classic books and article related to the subject matter. The used databases are ACADEMIC GOOGLE, SCIELO, PUBMED.
