Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8790The main objective of this article is to observe the development of the reading habit in the classroom in the Youth, Adult and Elderly Education (EJAI) modality This study will be analyzed from the axis of reading, since its development is based on linguistic theory itself. Its object of study will be the book of short stories, legends and narratives entitled Visages and Hauntings of Belém, a masterpiece by Walcyr Monteiro. The work reveals components that constitute a study of the popular imagination of the people of Belém, about the sociocultural values in the regional cultural habit, coming from everyday life in the Amazon. In this context, the narrative chosen for analysis, “A Mãe d'água do igarapé de São Joaquim”, was used as a literary tool, since it is a text that arouses students' interest in the habit of reading. In order to carry out this research, a didactic sequence was developed and applied to students in the 3rd stage of the EJAI, as an instrument of interaction and reading practices, so that they realize that the focus of the interactive activity emerges from the dynamics with the text. The research will be of a qualitative nature, with the objective of analyzing reading, based on the interactionist conception, starting from the author-text-reader interaction (Menegassi, 2010) and Fuza, Strique, Ohuschi (2010).
