However, it is equally relevant to study maintenance and repair strategies for existing structures, since concrete, although an artificial rock, is also subject to the effects of time and weather. Among the available techniques, structural repair by adding new layers of concrete stands out, the efficiency of which depends directly on the adhesion between old and new concrete. This work investigated the influence of different surface preparations on the adhesion between concretes molded at different ages. Twenty-eight cubic specimens of 30 MPa were prepared, joined to three types of base preparation: chipping, sanding, and grooving. The evaluation was performed by shear tests at the interface between the concretes using a push-out test. The results indicate significant differences in performance according to the type of preparation, with chipping showing the best performance, averaging 6.26 MPa of strength.
