Adopting a qualitative-quantitative approach, the study pursued the following specific objectives: (1) to characterize the socioeconomic and demographic profile of the farmers, as well as the social aspects and work organization related to cassava cultivation; (2) to identify the main local cassava varieties cultivated and understand their uses; (3) to describe the planting, management, and conservation practices associated with local varieties; and (4) to analyze the commercialization process and the main challenges faced by the community in carrying out this productive activity. Data were collected through semi-structured questionnaires and guided tours involving 12 family farmers, including eight women and four men, aged between 26 and 79 years, all of whom had not completed elementary education. A total of 33 local cassava varieties were identified, of which 21 remain under cultivation and 12 are no longer cultivated, indicating an ongoing process of genetic erosion. The conservation of cassava stem cuttings occurs predominantly in situ, complemented by the exchange of propagative material among families. The production systems maintain traditional agricultural practices, characterized by low dependence on external inputs and the artisanal processing of cassava in traditional flour houses (casas de farinha) to produce cassava flour, tapioca, tucupi, starch, and other derivatives. Cassava constitutes the community's primary source of food and income, contributing to food security, livelihood generation, and the preservation of traditional knowledge. It is concluded that cassava agrobiodiversity represents a strategic biocultural heritage for the social reproduction of Amazonian quilombola communities, highlighting the need for public policies aimed at its conservation and at strengthening family farming.
