Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9373This research is based on the concept of place and its various characterizations and to understand it we place the Riverside Community of Pacuí de Cima (Cametá/PA) at its core. The present work aims to provide an analysis of riverside culture and, as a concept of place, reveals the transformations that have occurred in the community through the lived space. She Will addressed the relationships between space and place, and as humanist geography contributed to the rise of this concept, place and its sense emerge after the conquest of space. Thus, the dimension of culture is also analyzed for individuals to recognize themselves as belonging to this territory. The methodology involved qualitative research, in which fieldwork was used to collect information (interviews and observations were carried out with riverside dwellers in the community). As theoretical subsidies we use the contributions of Yi-Fu Tuan (2013), Lívia de Oliveira (2014), Eduardo Marandola Jr (2014), João Baptista Ferreira de Mello (2014), Valter do Carmo Cruz (2011; 2006), Milton Santos (1997; 1988).
