They are benign tumors of epithelial origin, and typically slow growth of installation in adulthood, and the more prevalent the adenoma producer of prolactin, responsible for 50% of cases. Objectives: To describe and analyze the clinical and epidemiological profile of the patient with pituitary tumor. Patients and Methods: there was a retrospective study, observational, cross type, which is predominantly descriptive, from lifting of records of patients enrolled in the University Hospital Joao de Barros Barreto in Belém-PA, in the period 2003/2007. There was filling in the form of the standard protocol, containing demographic variables, and clinical tests of patients diagnosed with adenoma Hipofisário. Results: the period of study, selected to 157 patients, 85.35% female and with an average of 35 years of age. The most prevalent type of tumor was the prolactinoma with 84.08% of cases, followed by secreting adenoma of growth hormone (GH) of mixed (producer of growth hormone and prolactin), the secreting of adrenocorticotropic hormone and gonadotrófico (FSH / LH), with 10.83%, 3.17%, 1.27% and 0.64% respectively. There were identified non-secreting tumors (clinically or not functioning), or adenomas producers of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Conclusion: Most patients with pituitary adenomas belonged to the female and the mean age of 35 years. The adenoma of secreting prolactin was the most prevalent, with 84.08% of cases, and menstrual irregularities reported more symptoms in this type of tumor. The MRI exam was the image of most requested as a complementary measure for the diagnosis of various tumors.
