Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10050Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disorder, from a behavioral point of view, and is part of a group of brain disorder conditions. They are subdivided into categories of degrees of severity, namely: levels I, II and III. This disorder is more prevalent in male patients, and an accurate diagnosis can be made even during early childhood. The main characteristics of patients with this pathology are related to the difficulty of communication and social interaction, as well as in applications that may include interests and patterns of daily activities. Patients with special needs usually have oral health problems, or the person with TEA is a group that ratifies this condition. In a function of a cariogenic diet, difficulty in using proper hygiene and the use of medications that reduce saliva production, these patients suffer from a high prevalence of caries and periodontal diseases. Therefore, periodic monitoring at the Dental Surgeon becomes even more necessary. However, due to the patient's behavior and the difficulties faced by the professional during a dental appointment, many parents neglect this need.
