The research investigates how the traditional knowledge of these women manifests itself in their relationships with the waters and streams, constituting pedagogical, spiritual, and ecological practices that reaffirm Afro-Amazonian ancestry and Quilombola resistance. Based on a qualitative and ethnographic approach, the study articulates bibliographic research, oral history, and participant observation, prioritizing listening to and recognizing the griots as authors of their own narratives. Interviews with women from the community reveal the streams as spaces of memory, sociability, and transmission of knowledge, where the body, nature, and orality intertwine in the construction of counter-colonial epistemologies. Theoretically, this work engages with the reflections of Evaristo, Bispo dos Santos, Pacheco, Hampâté Bâ, Castro, Diniz, Marte, Oyěwùmí, and Machado, among others, who understand quilombola knowledge as practices of counter-colonization and ancestral pedagogies. The analysis demonstrates that the waters of Poacê are more than natural elements: they are territories of life, spirituality, and identity, where female voices keep alive the memory and ways of being of the quilombola people of Jambuaçu.
