Often, these deaths were due to cases of sepsis and/or bacteremia. Therefore, frequently, these cases, without central nervous system involvement, are caused by Listeria monocytogenes, with a mortality rate from listeriosis in vulnerable patients reaching up to 30%. Empirical treatment for listeriosis-related sepsis requires intravenous infusion of amoxicillin or ampicillin, along with sulfamethoxazole combined with trimethoprim as an alternative for allergic patients, and the possibility of combining it with gentamicin in more severe cases. Thus, the need for alternatives in antimicrobial treatment against L. monocytogenes is evident due to the emerging limit of options should resistance to existing medications increase. Therefore, our goal in this study is to design, synthesize, and evaluate the biological and antibacterial activity of new sulfonamide analog compounds. The design of the new compound was based on the sulfonamide subunit, focusing on the functional group, with sulfadiazine chosen. The planned compound showed promise, with all parameters indicated as green according to the OSIRIS Property Explorer. The compounds demonstrated antibacterial activity, with Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations: sulfamethoxypyridazine (SMP) 3.90 μg/mL; BHT aldehyde 62.5 μg/mL; and compound B1CBH 15.62 μg/mL.
