Among these materials, nickel stands out for its low production cost and satisfactory performance compared to noble metals. In this work, Nickel nanoparticles coated with an organic material (palm kernel oil) were synthesized using the thermal decomposition method, which stands out for its ease in controlling the size and composition of the particles. The characterization was carried out using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), using well-known programs such as GSAS-II, Origin, ImageJ, VESTA and Excel, with the aim of presenting an accessible and straightforward tutorial on the use of these tools in the analysis and refinement of nanoparticles. The particles were obtained by heating nickel II acetylacetonate [Ni(acac)₂] in the presence of octanediol, diphenyl ether, oleylamine and palm kernel oil under a nitrogen atmosphere for three hours and then cooling the solution naturally. The XRD data was refined using the Rietveld method, revealing that the nanoparticles have two crystallographic phases: face-centered cubic (FCC) and hexagonal compact (HCP), with an average crystallite size of around 117.88 nm. The MET images showed a spherical morphology with an average diameter of 78 nm, surrounded by organic material, indicating potential applications in the technology, cosmetics and biomedical industries.Acesso AbertoNanopartículasDecomposição térmicaGSAS IIIMAGEJNanoparticlesThermal decompositionCNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::FISICA::FISICA DAS PARTICULAS ELEMENTARES E CAMPOSTutorial de utilização do GSAS II e IMAGEJ: estudo de caso utilizando nanoparticulas de níquelTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution 3.0 Brazil
