The research begins with a bibliographic and conceptual review of the phenomenon of fake news, highlighting that, although the term gained prominence in the contemporary context, the practice of informational manipulation has existed since Antiquity. In the current scenario, the speed and technological sophistication provide fake news with unprecedented reach, intensified by social media and by the logic of “post-truth,” which privileges emotions and personal beliefs over objective facts. Grounded in Social and Digital History, the study analyzes how the circulation of false information promoted polarization, sectarianism, and attacks on the Brazilian democratic system, emphasizing the need to strengthen fact-checking agencies and to foster critical reflection on the impacts of fake news in the construction of Contemporary and Digital History.Acesso AbertoFake newsRedes sociaisPós-verdadeSocial mediaPost-truthCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::HISTORIAUma análise da repercussão político-eleitoral das fake-news no Brasil do ano de 2018Trabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
