Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8215This work consists of a research on the use of medicinal plants by women from the riverside community of Pacuí de Cima Cametá - PA in gynecological health care. From the perspective of popular and ancestral knowledge, with the objective of understanding the importance they have in the life and health of women in this region of the Amazon. The methodology used was a qualitative approach anchored in bibliographic research together with field research. The collection techniques were based on oral history and field diary. The data obtained were collected through semi-structured forms and conversations with the women. During the research, seven forms of use were identified regarding thirty-nine types of medicinal plants intended for the treatment of prevention and cure for gynecological illness processes of women in the community. Fourteen more frequent types of gynecological illness that affect riverine women from Pacuí de Cima were also identified. It was found that medicinal plants are allies in the treatment of gynecological diseases. Knowledge about medicinal plants, both in cultivation, preparation and use, is transmitted by women, especially the older ones in the community, using orally and through the identification of plants. However, this knowledge in recent decades has been impacted by the advancement of the pharmaceutical industry.
